Of the many factors that work together to make sure your car drives smoothly, safely, and efficiently, perhaps none are more important than your brakes. It’s vital to keep your brakes in excellent shape and to be on the lookout for brake damage.
How will you know if there’s something wrong with your brakes? Here are some warning signs to look for:
- Squeaking or groaning sounds. A weird sound every now and then may just be a fluke, but if your brakes are singing to an unusual tune every time you press them, something is wrong.
- Your car pulls to one side every time you brake. This likely means that you brake lines are eroding, unevenly, or that there may be debris mixed with your brake fluid.
- The whole car vibrates when you hit the brakes. Does your vehicle come to a stop, while vibrating the whole way there? This could indicate warped rotors, which could wear your brakes down – fast.
- They just aren’t working as well. Is your car not slowing down as quickly as it should? Do you have to push the pedal the whole way down? These are telltale signs.
