2017 Nissan Armada Named Popular Mechanics SUV of the Year

The 2017 Nissan Armada has been named the Popular Mechanics SUV of the Year in the annual Popular Mechanics Automotive Excellence Awards, which was presented in conjunction with the 2017 New York International Auto Show. The nine awarded vehicles are featured in the May issue of Popular Mechanics, on sale now.

Popular Mechanics highlighted that the Nissan Armada offers “a luxury SUV experience at a Nissan price,” and that the Armada “does it best” in terms of delivering an 8-passenger SUV with low-range 4-wheel drive.

The Popular Mechanics editorial staff drive every vehicle in each segment to determine the winners, and no second-place picks are chosen, and there aren’t any category divisions beyond overall segments like Pickup, SUV, and so on. Nissan cites that consumers “are in agreement with the experts at Popular Mechanics” due to a 156% increase in Armada sales in 2017.

The 2017 Armada starts an all-new generation of the vehicle, with a new design, a 5.6-liter Endurance V8 with best-in-class horsepower, a new 7-speed automatic transmission, and more features than any vehicle in its class, including Predictive Forward Collision Warning, Backup Collision Intervention, Moving Object Detection, and many more.

Nissan Named as a Best Global Green Brand for 2013

When Interbrand’s third annual Best Global Green Brands report for 2013 came out, many people were surprised by the top companies, which included Nissan. Nissan Named a Top Global Green Brand for 2013

Moving up 16 places, Nissan is one of the leaders for their zero emissions, 100% electric LEAF. They were also named the “top riser” after moving up 16 places from the 2012 rankings. Alexander Murry, Strategy Director for Interbrand, said he believes Japanese car makers are setting a higher bar for the industry, with four of the top five places going to automotive brands.

The rankings are determined by comparing the performance of a company’s environmental practices to the perception of the general public, and the Leaf “drives perception” towards Nissan doing their part in helping the environment.

Selling over 65,000 Nissan LEAFs in May 2013 made Nissan’s 100% electric car the best-selling EV in history and this recognition is just another step in the right direction towards Nissan’s commitment to reduce its environmental impact.
