How to Transport a Christmas Tree This Holiday Season

How to Transport a Christmas Tree

There’s nothing quite like having a real tree in the house for the holidays. For many drivers, getting one home is a particularly intimidating task. With a bit of planning and preparation and the right vehicle for the job, getting a Christmas tree home for the holidays is easy.

Plan ahead

Like most things in life, planning ahead is key when bringing a Christmas tree home. Don’t forget to measure the space in your home where you intend to put the tree beforehand. When you are at the nursery or Christmas tree lot, always measure the tree itself before you strap it to your vehicle.

Wrap it up

If your tree doesn’t come wrapped neatly in netting, you should wrap it up yourself with a tarp or old blanket. This keeps the tree from scratching your vehicle and makes it easier to handle as you load and unload it from the car. Doing this will also keep hundreds of pesky pine needles from falling all over your home.

Situate aerodynamically

You should always arrange the tree facing stump forward on the roof of your vehicle. This will help keep the tree in good shape and prevent the wind from snapping off any branches.

Tie it down

Tie the tree down with rope, straps, or bungee cords. Whichever you use, you should use at least three to ensure that all parts of the tree are safe and snug.

If your holiday gift list has something on it that’s a bit too big to fit under the tree, like a new Nissan Rogue or Maxima, you might be better off looking in the showroom at Bates Nissan.

In this time of giving thanks, Bates Nissan wants to recognize all we are thankful for by supporting the Toys for Tots program and making the holidays happier for the less fortunate in the Killeen area.

We ask that you help us fill this truck at our Killeen Nissan dealership with toys for needy area children. Just stop by our dealership with a new, unwrapped toy. These toys, along with others generously donated at other Toys for Tots collection areas, will be collected, sorted and distributed to kids who need them the most.

The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program states that their goal is “to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens.” They have been providing toys for children of financially burdened families for over 64 years.

The program has established relationships with church groups, social welfare agencies and other organizations within communities to help identify needy children and make sure they receive gifts at Christmas. Their goal this year is to collect 15,000 toys in Central Texas by the last day of the drive, December 15.

In addition to donating toys, you can also give of your time. Toys for Tots is also seeking volunteers to help collect, sort, and distribute the gifts.

Please help Bates Nissan support this worthy cause and ensure that the children of Central Texas enjoy a brighter, happier holiday.
