U.S. Electric Cars Sales

It looks like more people are going green than ever before—and they are choosing the all-electric Nissan LEAF to do so. The LEAF plug-in electric car is already considered the best-selling electric car in the world, and now it has yet another accolade to add to its list. Nissan recently announced that the tiny, eco-friendly car has officially set a new U.S. electric car sales record in 2014.

The Nissan LEAF sold a total of 30,200 units in 2014 alone. This amazing number was helped by the LEAF’s impressive December sales, during which it sold 3,102 units total. The record-breaking year has brought the total LEAF sales in the U.S. to 72,322 units since the car’s introduction in December of 2010, making the Nissan electric car one of three plug-in cars that have sold more than 1,000 units in the U.S. in a month.

For such a tiny car, the Nissan LEAF has sure made a ginormous impression. As you start to notice more and more electric vehicles hitting the streets, maybe you should consider joining the green revolution as well!  Make sure you stop in to Bates Nissan soon to see the amazing all-electric Nissan LEAF and other eco-friendly vehicle options we have to offer!

We Desperately Want to Drive the 45th Anniversary Nissan GT-R

Nissan GT-R

It looks like 2014 was the year because 2014 marked the 45th anniversary of the launch of the original Skyline GT-R!  Nissan plans to celebrate in a big way.  Nissan is commemorating both that milestone and the launch of the all-new 2015 GT-R by releasing a super limited edition 45th Anniversary Nissan GT-R.

The good news: this beauty will offer everything that we here at Bates Nissan adore about the Nissan GT-R—most particularly the knock-you-off-your-socks 545 horsepower—in addition to unique touches that include a Silica Brass paint scheme that echoes the original R34 Skyline GT-R M-Spec, as well as the sleek exclusive GT-R badging.

The bad news: Nissan is only making 45 of these bad boys… And they are all being sold in Japan.

Fortunately, you won’t need to travel across the Pacific to get your hands on a brand new 2015 Nissan GT-R. We have one in stock here at Bates Nissan that is absolutely begging to be driven. If your New Year’s resolution consists of getting a new car and not settling for anything less than what you deserve, come see why the GT-R is the car you need to be driving in 2015.

Nissan Kicks Concept Premieres at Sao Paulo Auto Show

Auto show season is upon us once more, and Nissan is stretching its influence all across the world—not just in North America. For example, Nissan recently debuted a new vehicle at the Sao Paulo International Auto Show. The Nissan Kicks Concept was actually designed to specifically reflect the lives and spirit of the people of Brazil, so Sao Paulo was the perfect spot for the car to be unveiled.

“This concept is a product of global collaboration, but it was inspired by the streets of Brazil and designed for its people,” said Mamoru Aoki, Executive Design Director of Nissan’s Global Design Strategy Department. The Concept vehicle sought inspiration from the contrasting color schemes in Brazil—cool, metallic urban tones in Sao Paulo and vibrant color in Rio.

The new Concept might have been designed in Brazil, but that doesn’t mean it’s only meant for Brazil, as Taro Ueda, Vice President of Nissan Design America, noted. “It’s not only just for the Brazilian market, but we capture the idea of Brazil and then we apply it to our global design improvement, making a stronger design lineup for future Nissan designs,” said Ueda. Here at Bates Nissan, we’re looking forward to seeing how the Concept and its design principles make their way into vehicles in our showrooms—and we’re sure you are too! So come see us today.

Good Housekeeping Magazine Names Nissan LEAF Top Electric Car Pick

2014 Nissan LEAF

Good Housekeeping is known as being the go-to publication for the best consumer products, which is why it comes as no surprise that the magazine found the 2014 Nissan LEAF SL to be their Top Electric Car Pick, using their tried, tested, and trusted testing method. Through a combination of driving range, great value, and segment-exclusive safety technologies, such as the Around View Monitor, the Nissan LEAF has proved, once again, why it is the best-selling electric vehicle in the world and deserving of this new title.

“As more than 64,000 American LEAF owners will tell you, the economics of going electric are simple: Buy a Nissan LEAF and save money by conveniently charging at home instead of paying more at the gas pump,” said Fred Diaz, senior vice president of Nissan Sales & Marketing and Operations in the U.S. “But the real beauty of the Nissan LEAF is that it’s roomy and, best of all, fun to drive, which is why it received this honor from the Good Housekeeping Research Institute.”

Good Housekeeping determined the top picks of its 2014 car review by putting them to the test on the track, suburban roads, and highways. During these evaluations, the researchers tested each car for ergonomics and convenience features. With an EPA-estimated driving range of 84 miles and a MPGe rating of 114 combined, all for the price of about $22,000, it really comes as no surprise that the LEAF has come out on top.

While Bates Nissan doesn’t have the LEAF in stock for your test-driving pleasure, we do offer plenty of other eco-friendly vehicle options to try out. Make sure you stop in to our dealership today and give them a test drive today!

Nissan LEAF Owners Travel 528 Million All-Electric Miles and Counting

Since the Nissan LEAF came to market in 2010, owners have collectively driven more than 850 million kilometers – over 528 million all-electric miles – and they are well on their way to reaching the 1 billion kilometers mark. Translation: the Nissan LEAF is revolutionizing the way we travel and positively impacting our world.

The LEAF’s CarWings measuring system enables every vehicle to record the number of miles it has traveled, creating an accurate measurement of how far owners have driven with zero emissions. As of this writing, that number had passed 858 million kilometers and is steadily rising. The goal to reach 1 billion km is expected to occur in January 2015, but may be passed even earlier.

Can you imagine? One billion kilometers, 621 million miles. In terms of CO2, that’s over 150,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions that have been reduced as a result.

Nissan created a website to track the car’s progress to 1 billion kilometers traveled. Owners also have the opportunity to share their stories on the ways the LEAF has changed their lives. For many, what began as a secondary vehicle has become the primary mover for the whole family.

Do you have stories to share about how the LEAF has changed the way you travel? We at Bates Nissan would love to hear them!

Fred Diaz, the senior vice president of Nissan Sales & Marketing and Operations, stated that, “The all-new 2014 Rogue has received numerous accolades in the automotive industry, but the most important test comes when owners evaluate the vehicle for themselves.”

AOL Autos Spills the Details of Their 2014 Nissan Versa Note Test Drive

2014 Nissan Versa Note Test Drive

2014 Nissan Versa Note at the Chicago Auto Show

The 2014 Versa Note is the little hatchback-that-could. A little tid-bit of information; Nissan distinguishes it’s hatchback from the Nissan Versa sedan by adding “Note” to the end. Now that we have formalities out of the way, let’s get into the details of a 2014 Nissan Versa Note test drive.

Inside, the Versa Note does not disappoint. The interior seems to be more spacious than you would imagine at first glance, boasting plenty of head, leg, and shoulder room (even for adults!) in the front and rear seats. Turns out there is more room in the back then most midsize luxury cars offer – what’s not to like about that?

The author also notes how surprisingly quiet the hatchback drives. At the low price-point of the Versa note, many would expect load road-noise, but Nissan seems to have taken care to invest in creating a quiet space for their consumers.

The Versa Note was never intended to be a sports car, and doesn’t boast an incredibly powerful engine. What the Versa Note does offer is a smooth, fuel-efficient ride that will get you around town.

An optional tech package spices things up inside. Featuring 8.5-inch touch screen, voice recognition, navigation, weather, Google send-to-car capability, and Bluetooth, among other technologies to keep you connected. If you want to, you can get this car loaded with all the latest technology, and still keep the price tag under $20,000. Not bad.

This 2014 Nissan Versa Note test drive proves that big surprises come in little packages. The Nissan Versa Note is a versatile car, efficiently getting you, your friends, or your cargo around town comfortably and in-style. But why take AOL Autos’ word for it when you can come test drive it for yourself at Bates Nissan?

Nissan is on Top for February Sales

2014 Nissan Rogue - February Sales

The 2014 Nissan Rogue leads Nissan’s February sales with a record 17,197 units sold nationwide.

We know it seems like this winter will never end (though, if you hang on for just a bit longer, we’re pretty sure that spring is right around the corner). February was another long, cold, snowy month for most of the country and, like January, it stalled much of the auto industry and deflated expectations across the board. Well, for most of the auto industry that is. Nissan rose above the rest and was one of the few automakers with positive sales numbers in the month of February.

Not only was Nissan in rare enough company by posting the greatest year-over-year gain in February, but they also managed a record-setting month with 105,631 vehicles sold. This marks a 16.7 percent increase over last February and was also good for the 11th monthly record set by the brand in the past 12 months.

Leading the Nissan sales was the redesigned Rogue crossover, which also set a February record with 17,197 units sold nationwide—a jump of 72.6 percent. Another record-setter was the zero-emissions Nissan LEAF, which had an increase of 118.2 percent with 1,425 sold.

Hopefully we have finally seen an end to the cold. Want to get a jump start on your spring? Head over to Bates Nissan and warm yourself up with a brand new Nissan.

Nissan Issues Recall for 2012-14 Frontier Pickups

2013 Nissan Frontier Recall

The 2013 NIssan Frontier was involved in the recall.

Nobody likes to hear that something might be wrong with their car…particularly when that potential something wrong . But when you can get free repairs to ensure the health of your vehicle and your own safety, there’s something of a silver lining to be found.

Nissan has issued a recall affecting 13,535 Frontier pickup trucks in the United States. The reason is an electrical issue that could cause a fire; however, no fires or injuries have been reported. The potential issue is with a circuit breaker that was installed incorrectly in model year 2012 through 2014 trucks.

According to the NHTSA’s recall notice, incorrectly-installed circuit breakers could lead to the main wire harness facing outward and contacting a metal bolt on the vehicle’s A-pillar. This could result in wearing, shortages, and eventually, fire.

All owners of the affected trucks will receive a notification in the mail about the recall. They can then make an appointment with any Nissan dealership to have their trucks inspected and repaired free of charge. Notifications will being going out early next month.

2012-14 Frontier owners may contact Nissan at 1-800-647-7261, and they may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or through www.safercar.gov.

If you have any questions about this recall or want to see if you own a recalled truck, you can also call us at Bates Nissan and we’ll help you out.
