Bates Nissan is proud to announce that the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder has been named by Popular Mechanics Car of the Year for versatility.
Citing the new unibody design and the more efficient V6 engine, Popular Mechanics called the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder “more spacious and more practical all around.”
The Pathfinder offers room for seven passengers, making it a viable alternative to the minivan for families. The new EZ Flex seats add to comfort and ease of access by allowing second-row seats to slide forward, with passengers strapped in, to allow third-row seat entry. The 2013 Pathfinder also offers 79.8 cubic feet of total cargo space, with additional in-floor storage under the third row, making it just as good for hauling stuff as for hauling people.
Fuel economy in the new Pathfinder is improved to 26 mpg highway by shaving 500 pounds from the body weight through unibody construction, changed from body-on-frame construction in previous models. The new frame also shifted the center of gravity lower, allowing a smoother ride and better handling.
The 2013 Pathfinder no longer offers a V8 engine, downsizing instead to a V6. While the power decreases slightly to 260hp, the towing capacity is still a respectable 5,000 pounds.
