Nissan Earns a 2018 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year — Sustained Excellence Award

2018 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year —Sustained Excellence Award

For the seventh year in a row, Nissan North America has earned the EPA’s coveted designation as an energy leader: the 2018 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year — Sustained Excellence Award. This award is given to companies that demonstrate their commitment to the environment by optimizing their daily operations to be more efficient.

2018 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year —Sustained Excellence AwardWhat has Nissan North America done to earn this distinction? Specifically, the automaker has switched its facilities to LED lighting, prioritized energy efficiency in its design process (like its painting process, which has cut energy consumption by more than 30 percent), and engaged all of its North American employees in energy management.

More specifically, Nissan has worked with Middle Tennessee and Central Mississippi schools to improve their energy-saving initiatives.

“Awards like the ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year let us know we are moving in the right direction with our sustainable manufacturing practices,” commented Rebecca Vest, vice president of Corporate Development and Social Responsibility. “Our approach is a comprehensive one, focused on maximizing efficiency and reducing energy waste in our manufacturing facilities, all while continuing to deliver the products our customers expect.”

Nissan also leads the market in energy-efficient vehicles, like America’s best-selling EV, the Nissan LEAF.

Check Out This Nissan Armada Mountain Patrol Concept SUV

Nissan Armada Mountain Patrol

Earlier this year, Nissan pulled the covers off one of its most innovative concept models to date: the Nissan Armada Mountain Patrol SUV. The unveiling was held at the Overland Expo WEST, which is an event all about rugged exploring off the beaten path, which is a perfect match for this off-road-ready SUV.

The upgraded Nissan Armada includes a number of features that make it more suitable to an outdoor adventure. Key features on the Nissan Armada Mountain Patrol concept include a Warn Zeon Platinum 12S Winch, an IF Signs custom wrap, large Calmini rock sliders and bumpers, and Baja Designs XL80 lights. The most innovative feature, however, is the Cascadia Vehicle Tents roof-mounted tent, which lets the driver and passengers — up to four adults — camp out on top of the Armada. For added wow factor, the tent features an awning from Rhino Racks. The Armada concept also includes a second tent (for the ground), sleeping bags, and chairs — just in case you’re traveling with more than four people, since the Armada can fit up to eight.

“For those family adventure fans who aren’t familiar with the term ‘overlanding,’ all they need to do is look at the Armada Mountain Patrol to understand that this is not glamping, not a day trip to the local forest — it’s adventure taken to new heights,” remarked Brandon White, director, Chief Marketing Manager, Nissan North America, Inc. “The Nissan Armada, with its rugged platform, best-in-class 390-horsepower 5.6-liter V8 engine, 8,500-pound towing capacity, and massive interior and cargo space, is an ideal starting place to build an authentic overlanding vehicle.”

Unfortunately, the Armada Mountain Patrol is just a concept vehicle for now, but you can test drive the 2018 Nissan Armada here at Bates Nissan.

2019 Nissan Altima Preview

2019 Nissan Altima

The 2019 Nissan Altima made its official debut this year at the 2018 New York International Auto Show, new and improved with a long list of features. The upcoming Nissan Altima leaves it mark as the first Nissan sedan to be available with the automaker’s Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system.

Designed to offer the latest in driving technologies, the 2019 Altima brings new life to the mid-size sedan segment. The upcoming model is the first sedan on the automaker’s lineup to come with available Intelligent All-Wheel Drive.

Rear Automatic Braking arrives as a new safety feature for the 2019 model year. The safety system alerts drivers of an impending collision while reversing, and then hits the brakes if the driver fails to respond. The Rear Automatic Braking feature joins the Nissan Safety Shield package to create Safety Shield 360. The suite of safety technologies includes all-around monitoring systems, including High Beam Assist and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

The Altima’s 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine carries over from its previous model year. A new turbocharged four-cylinder engine offers similar power and better efficiency than the outgoing V6 powertrain.

Based on the Nissan Vmotion 2.0 concept, the 2019 Altima is available with 19-inch wheels that provide a more athletic stance. An innovative 8-inch multi-touchscreen display allows drivers to seamlessly navigate the infotainment system. Smartphone connectivity software, such as Apply CarPlay, carries over from last year’s model.

How to Change Your Car’s Wiper Blades

change your car’s wiper blades

Spring is known for its rain showers, but no matter which season it is, you should always be prepared for precipitation. Make sure you know how to change your car’s wiper blades when they begin to wear out and you’ll be grateful for the clear visibility when the rain does fall.

When to Change The Blades

If your car’s wiper blades are squeaking or leaving streaks and residue behind, then it’s time to replace them. Wiper blades should create a clear, clean path on the windshield.

How to Change the Blades

Changing the wiper blades on your vehicle is easy and inexpensive. Your owner’s manual will tell you which size and type of wiper blades your car needs.

To remove old blades, you can pull the wiper arms up so that they’re perpendicular to the windshield, then push down on the tab that connects the arm to the blade. When the tab is released, pull the old blade down and off of the arm.

To replace with a new wiper blade, pull the blade up the wiper arm and into position until you hear the tab click. This will mean that the wiper blade is secure and ready for use.

For more information about replacing your windshield wiper blades, or if you’d like them replaced by a professional, stop by Bates Nissan.

When you opt for the Rogue’s highest trim level, the SL, you get a long list of standard safety technologies. Here’s a quick look at just what innovative tech you’ll find:

  • Nissan ProPilot Assist: A Level 1 self-driving system which moderates the distance between your car and the car in front of you, while also keeping you in a lane.
  • Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection: Similar to ProPilot, this system helps you maintain a specific distance between your vehicle and the car ahead, monitoring your speed and letting you know if you need to slow down. It can even help lessen the severity of an impact by automatically engaging the brakes and will stop you in your tracks if it detects a pedestrian.
  • Intelligent Around Viewâ Monitor: Using four cameras, you can get a complete 360-degree view of your vehicle, allowing you to get a better look of the front, rear, and curbside of your car. It will even let you know when there is a moving object near your vehicle.

Other available safety tech on the Rogue includes Blind Spot Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Intelligent Lane Intervention.

Safety is a top priority for Nissan, inspiring the addition of driver-assist and safety technology features on the new Nissan Rogue. To test out the new features for yourself, stop by Bates Nissan or give us a call to schedule a test drive.

What to Do If You Get in a Car Accident

what to do if you get in a car accident

Car accidents can be frightening, but it is important in this scary moment that you remain calm, prioritize safety, and take the proper steps to ensure you and all other drivers and passengers recover quickly and get back on the road.

Here is what to do if you get in a car accident:

  1. Move your car to a safe area: If you are on a busy road, the safest thing to do, if you are able, is to immediately pull off onto the shoulder or a place where traffic will not put you at further risk.
  2. Make sure everyone in your car is okay: Assess the health of you and your passengers quickly and call 911 if there is an emergency.
  3. Check on other people involved in the accident: Again, call 911 immediately if someone is in poor condition.
  4. Call the police: If you haven’t had to call the police due to medical issues yet, be very thankful—but you’ll still need to call them to file a police report.
  5. Exchange info: Trade information with the other driver, including names, phone numbers, license plate and driver’s license, insurance info, etc.
  6. Take pictures: Document everything you can.
  7. Contact insurance: Begin filing your claim with your insurance representative.
  8. Go to the doctor: Just in case, it is important that you and your passengers see a doctor to make sure you are okay.

If your vehicle needs repairs after a collision, don’t hesitate to contact us at Bates Nissan. We’ll be happy to schedule a service appointment for your vehicle to get you back on the road as soon as possible.

Nissan Concept Cars: Rethinking Mobility in the Future

Nissan Concept Cars

Nissan is one of the industry’s leading automakers, especially when it comes to innovation. There are a number of Nissan concept and future vehicles in the works, including models like the Vmotion 2.0 Concept, Titan Warrior, IDS Concept, Frontier Diesel Runner, and IDx Concept. Combining the latest technologies with fine-tuned engineering, the lineup of Nissan concept cars is both extensive and impressive.

According to Nissan, the Vmotion 2.0 Concept is the future of Nissan automotive design. Unveiled during the 2018 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in January, the 2.0 Concept has a ProPILOT autonomous driving system that can traverse heavy traffic, tight urban streets, and open roads. There’s also a stunning three-dimensional front design and sharp contours, setting the Vmotion apart from other vehicles.

Truck lovers will enjoy the TITAN Warrior Concept, a bold pickup that has a truly aggressive look, off-road components, and a tuned Cummins® Turbo Diesel engine. The “armored” exterior has sharp lines, durable skid plates, and a quad-tipped exhaust. There are also fat tires, a custom off-road suspension, and a tuned heavy-duty Aisin transmission.

Finally, the IDx Freeflow and IDx NISMO® have very distinct designs and components. The exterior of the Freeflow is refined, sophisticated, and strikingly retro—a callback to older generations. Meanwhile, the NISMO® version is incredibly sporty, with a race-tuned chassis and a box-shaped look.

Other great cars include the fuel-sipping Frontier Diesel Runner and the bold IDS Concept. We at Bates Nissan, we can’t wait to see what the brand comes up with next.
