The second round of the 2016 Super GT Championship recently transpired at the Fuji Speedway in Japan. Nissan made a great show of force in not one, but two classes.
The Nissan GT-R took the cake in both the GT300 and GT500. In the latter race, the #1 MOTUL AUTECH GT-R, manned by the team of Ronnie Quintarelli and Tsugio Matsuda, finished first. It was a result that may not have been. The #12 Calsonic IMPUL GT-R, driven by JP de Oliveira, had passed his teammates and
was on his way to victory when he tragically blew a tire on lap 96 and spun out.
In the GT300, GT Academy alumnus Jann Mardenborough and his partner Kazuki Hoshino won in their #3 B-MAX NDDP GT-R. This is an exceptional feat considering that it was only Mardenborough’s second Super GT race.
After the race, the young driver said, “I feel great to be able to take victory in my second race in the Super GT. Kazuki and I both carried out a good race with no mistakes so I’m happy about that.”
Spa 24 Hours may not enjoy the same level of prestige as Le Mans, but it certainly deserves to come at least close. The event takes place in the rolling hills and verdant forests of Belgium at one of the most beautiful tracks in the world. It’s a favorite among racing drivers, who always appreciate its old-school racing roots and the famous uphill Eau Rouge corner.
Nissan hasn’t failed to show its appreciation, either. Ahead of this year’s Spa 24 Hour race on July 25, it presented an incredible collection of short clips of last year’s cars racing through Eau Rouge, in slow motion. Nissan didn’t just show off its own GT-R NISMO GT3 car, but also showed some of the competing cars as well. This is unlike most promotional material we see in the business, and makes us think that Nissan actually does care about the artistic side of racing!

If you are looking for a vehicle that has a bit of flash and a lot of speed, look no more—Bates Nissan can get the perfect vehicle for you! The 2016 Nissan GT-R 45th Anniversary Gold Edition combines the power of the legendary supercar with a brand-new golden paint color that highlights just how precious of a vehicle the GT-R is.
The 45th anniversary vehicle takes the original GT-R’s premium level and adds a big boost of luxury to the already luxurious vehicle. This new, golden shade, which is called Silica Brass, easily turns heads left and right. Even the vehicle’s VIN plates are a similar hue! The 2016 Nissan GT-R 45th Anniversary Gold Edition also has a commemorative plaque located on the center console, in case you ever forget that you’re driving a gold-colored car while driving.
Nissan is only selling 30 of these golden cars in the United States market, so if you’re interested, you need to get your order in soon. Because the color is so precious—it is based on a precious metal, after all—Nissan is adding an additional $1,000 charge to the Premium trim level’s $101,770 sticker price. Nissan used its heartwarming With Dad ad to debut the GT-R LM Nismo, its long-awaited racer designed for the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
It’s been 16 years since Nissan has competed in the top tier of the prestigious race, but now it’s back. The GT-R LM Nismo was created by a team of experts from around the world and boasts a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine that sits in the front of the front-wheel-drive car, while hybrid power is derived from the front driveline to boost acceleration.
The LM P1 car belongs to a category that features some of the most extreme sports cars in racing today. Its performance at Le Mans could go a long way toward not only solidifying the automaker’s excellence in hybrid power but also in developing new, innovative technologies that can be applied to the very kind of production vehicles we see every day at Bates Nissan.
The Nissan GT-R LM Nismo will be the centerpiece of a Nismo display at the upcoming Chicago Auto Show, alongside the GT-R Nismo, 370Z Nismo, JUKE Nismo, and several other Nismo models and concepts.
Having your dreams go from virtual-to-reality is what the Nissan GT Academy is all about. And, for Wisconsin native Nic Hamman his dreams of becoming a professional racer have come true.
He was the GT Academy Season 4 Champion and dominated the competition right from the start. In the first episode, the 12 competitors were put through an intense physical race, and Hamman finished long before any of the other racers. From there, Hamman’s performance never waned.
In the season finale, Hamman raced against the remaining three other contestants in an eight-lap race. He finished a full eight seconds ahead of the pack.
“It takes a lot of money to do any kind of professional racing,” said Hamman, in a statement. “What GT Academy and Nissan have done is give someone a shot at racing top-notch racing cars with professional mechanics and pit support without the financial windfall that kind of thing requires. I am so grateful to be able to do this, and I can’t wait to get to my first professional race in January.”
Hamman grew up with a love of motorsports and spent much of his childhood racing go karts and even won his fair share of races and local karting titles.
Here at Bates Nissan, we are excited to see how Hamman will perform as a professional Nissan racer. He will be racing with previous GT Academy winners in the Dubai 24 Hours on January 8-10.
It looks like 2014 was the year because 2014 marked the 45th anniversary of the launch of the original Skyline GT-R! Nissan plans to celebrate in a big way. Nissan is commemorating both that milestone and the launch of the all-new 2015 GT-R by releasing a super limited edition 45th Anniversary Nissan GT-R.
The good news: this beauty will offer everything that we here at Bates Nissan adore about the Nissan GT-R—most particularly the knock-you-off-your-socks 545 horsepower—in addition to unique touches that include a Silica Brass paint scheme that echoes the original R34 Skyline GT-R M-Spec, as well as the sleek exclusive GT-R badging.
The bad news: Nissan is only making 45 of these bad boys… And they are all being sold in Japan.
Fortunately, you won’t need to travel across the Pacific to get your hands on a brand new 2015 Nissan GT-R. We have one in stock here at Bates Nissan that is absolutely begging to be driven. If your New Year’s resolution consists of getting a new car and not settling for anything less than what you deserve, come see why the GT-R is the car you need to be driving in 2015.
If something has been drawn or written on your car with a sharpie marker, it’s usually because your own child will soon be getting grounded or your ex really has something to say to you. But this time, it was an act of artistic love.
A man who was living in Japan really wanted a Midnight Purple Nissan GTR, but just couldn’t find the right one. So, he ended up purchasing a 1995 Nissan Skyline GTR in silver. In a post on the NICO Club forum (scroll through pictures), he says it was one of the colors he wanted the least, so he had plans to repaint it.
In the meantime, he got to work making the modifications he wanted, including reducing the weight, getting new wheels, and more. He also decided to let his girlfriend draw over some scratches on the front bumper, and 15 hours later the whole bumper was covered with a fantastic tribal design. So they decided to just do the whole car.
Once the entire car was doodled over, it was covered in several layers of clear coat to keep the design intact.
We think this is better than any paint job we could imagine, and we bet he’s glad he didn’t go with the Midnight Purple.
Would you ever let someone do something like this to your favorite Nissan car?
