Nissan hits Production Milestone at Mexican Assembly Plant

Nissan Sentra

Nissan production is healthier than ever right now—and, in fact, the brand’s Mexican assembly plant in Aguascalientes recently hit a production milestone of 200,000 vehicles. The A2 manufacturing complex recently shipped a Nissan Sentra SR to Chicago—the 200,000th vehicle to roll off the line. There’s actually two plants in the complex, and each of them can produce a Sentra in under a minute.

With that sort of efficiency and production, it’s no wonder that the Aguascalientes plant posts such impressive numbers now. It’s also a subset of Nissan’s overall production health right now. “Nissan Mexicana is considered the benchmark for the brand in the world,” Airton Cousseau, head of Nissan’s Mexican operations, said. “It’s No. 1 in production [in Mexico] and the first in exports, more than in Japan.”

In fact, the brand hopes to make up to 1 million vehicles per year in Mexico once 2017 rolls around. Fortunately, much of that production feeds into the American market, so come see us at Bates Nissan today to learn more about all these great vehicles!

Nissan LEAF Routed Competition in Europe in 2013

Nissan LEAF

The Nissan LEAF quickly revved its way into first place in the electric vehicle (EV) market upon its release several years ago and only continues to cement its place at the top. Nissan recently finished calculating LEAF sales in Europe for 2013—and the results are staggering and impressive. The LEAF now owns a 33 percent share of the EV segment in Europe, outselling even the closest competition by over 25 percent last year. 2013 was easily a record sales year for the LEAF in Europe, moving 5,600 more cars than the brand moved in 2012.

The amazing year for the LEAF, according to Nissan, is merely the beginning of their EV reign in Europe.

“January has been a fantastic start to 2014, a year when we will launch our second 100 percent electric model in Europe – the Nissan e-NV200 light commercial vehicle,” said Jean-Pierre Diernaz, Director of Electric Vehicles for Nissan Europe.

“Our most recent survey following the launch of the improved European-built Nissan LEAF shows that 97 percent of owners would recommend a Nissan LEAF to a friend, and we believe this, combined with a rapidly expanding charging infrastructure, will bring further growth in 2014. We are moving from the early adopters to the early majority.”

The results of that survey Diernaz mentioned cannot be overstated. At this point, EVs have largely conquered early criticisms and drawbacks and are extremely practical vehicles. As both a practical and environmentally friendly driving solution, the 2014 Nissan LEAF is poised to continue dominating the European landscape in 2014.

There’s no reason Europe should have all the EV fun, though. Come see us at Bates Nissan to turn over a new LEAF today!

Over 100,000 Nissan LEAFs Sold Worldwide

Nissan LEAFDr. Brett Garner, a dentist in the UK as well as a committed husband and father of three, just wanted to buy a new, practical family car. So, naturally, he bought a Nissan LEAF. Little did he know, however, how special his purchase was—it marked the 100,00th Nissan LEAF sold worldwide since the vehicle’s introduction back in December of 2010. The Nissan LEAF has quickly conquered the electric vehicle (EV) market, both in the US and worldwide, where it has now captured a 45 percent share of the overall market.

“I have chosen my Nissan LEAF because I am very interested in its running costs,” Dr. Garner said. “The cost of ownership such as maintenance, insurance and charging also convinced my wife. She had the experience of driving 500 miles in a borrowed LEAF and the low cost was remarkable. So she was converted and insisted that we had a LEAF.”

Garner also stated that the car was “ideal for families,” blowing apart the notion that EVs continue to be niche cars not ready for practical use. The Nissan LEAF is ready for action—and there are 100,000 success stories out there to prove it. Come in to Bates Nissan today and be part of the next 100,000!
