Nissan has set an impressive new record in the world of competitive driving during the Nissan 370Z DriftExperience promotion in Dubai. Two Nissan Z cars drifted around the same track at the same time without stopping for an astonishing 17.72 miles, earning Nissan the world’s longest twin vehicle drifting record.
The third time’s the charm for the Nissan Middle East branch that was behind the performance, which now holds the Guinness World Record for twin vehicle drifting after two failed attempts to break the previous all-time score.
The Nissan 370Z DriftExperience program offered driving enthusiasts the opportunity “to learn and perfect the art of drifting,” according to the World Record Academy. Drifting enthusiasts present for the program must have been ecstatic to witness the Nissan Z twin-drifting feat first-hand.

In an event rallying hundreds of supporters of Action Against Hunger, the Renault-Nissan Alliance received top honors for its significant contributions to the worthy cause.
Action Against Hunger is a non-profit organization committed to fighting childhood malnutrition and creating a world without hunger. The Renault-Nissan Alliance had the opportunity to set up an emergency fund, enabling the organization to rapidly provide relief to those in need.
“The Renault-Nissan Alliance has been a strong advocate of global humanitarian work, which includes everything from supporting victims of the typhoon in the Philippines to providing emergency food assistance to people in East Africa,” said Raymond Debbane, chairman of Action Against Hunger’s Board of Directors. “We honor their commitment to help the most vulnerable communities thrive.”
The event not only gathered supporters to honor generous contributions to the organization’s work, but it also inspired continued efforts on behalf of Action Against Hunger’s mission.
During this past year, the non-profit was able to provide humanitarian aid to those caught in the midst of the Syrian conflict, victims of the typhoon in the Philippines, and people plagued by violence in the Central African Republic.
We at Bates Nissan are proud the Renault-Nissan Alliance is doing its part to give people around the world something most of us take for granted: food. If you would like to get involved, visit the organization’s website for more information or to make a donation to the cause.
Some of the most remarkable cars at Nissan seem to fly under the radar… until now that is. The 2015 Nissan Murano was recently awarded the “Best of What’s New” award by Popular Science magazine. As one of the exclusive cars to win in the automotive category, it’s a pretty big deal.
According to Nissan, the new model owes its win to the 2015 Murano crossover design. Crossovers represent a group of cars that incorporate a little bit of everything so drivers get exactly what they want. The Murano is no different; when we say you can get everything you want, we mean it.
Fred Diaz, a Senior VP at Nissan, said, “The redesigned Murano is leading the way once again with an incredible balance of style, comfort, innovation and more. With the Murano set to hit dealerships in early December, this award serves as a great vote of confidence that this vehicle is among the best.”
The redesigned Murano features premium styling, inside and out, plenty of room, and comes with an advanced NissanConnectSM. A 3.5-liter DOHC V6 provides performance, yet retains great fuel economy, and the safety features are cutting edge. With Blind Spot Warning, Moving Object Detection, and Forward Collision Warning, it’s one of the safest vehicles on the road.

Good Housekeeping is known as being the go-to publication for the best consumer products, which is why it comes as no surprise that the magazine found the 2014 Nissan LEAF SL to be their Top Electric Car Pick, using their tried, tested, and trusted testing method. Through a combination of driving range, great value, and segment-exclusive safety technologies, such as the Around View Monitor, the Nissan LEAF has proved, once again, why it is the best-selling electric vehicle in the world and deserving of this new title.
“As more than 64,000 American LEAF owners will tell you, the economics of going electric are simple: Buy a Nissan LEAF and save money by conveniently charging at home instead of paying more at the gas pump,” said Fred Diaz, senior vice president of Nissan Sales & Marketing and Operations in the U.S. “But the real beauty of the Nissan LEAF is that it’s roomy and, best of all, fun to drive, which is why it received this honor from the Good Housekeeping Research Institute.”
Good Housekeeping determined the top picks of its 2014 car review by putting them to the test on the track, suburban roads, and highways. During these evaluations, the researchers tested each car for ergonomics and convenience features. With an EPA-estimated driving range of 84 miles and a MPGe rating of 114 combined, all for the price of about $22,000, it really comes as no surprise that the LEAF has come out on top.
While Bates Nissan doesn’t have the LEAF in stock for your test-driving pleasure, we do offer plenty of other eco-friendly vehicle options to try out. Make sure you stop in to our dealership today and give them a test drive today!
2014 Nissan Rogue
The new 2014 Nissan Rogue and Quest continue to garner praise. Torque News reports that in the 2014 J.D. Power Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study, both vehicles scored best out of all the vehicles in their segment. The survey works by giving customers who have recently purchased new automobiles a questionnaire that asks about 77 different attributes and then compiles the data for a score. Out of 1000 possible points, the Rogue earned a segment-best 786 while the Quest beat out all other minivans to post a 790.
2014 Nissan Quest
Fred Diaz, the senior vice president of Nissan Sales & Marketing and Operations, stated that, “The all-new 2014 Rogue has received numerous accolades in the automotive industry, but the most important test comes when owners evaluate the vehicle for themselves.”
Some of the numerous accolades Diaz is referring to include Best Crossover on the 2014 10 Best Family Cars list and two Kelley Blue Book best-of lists. If you would like to see the cars that are earning such well-deserved applause, visit Bates Nissan and test drive a 2014 Rogue or Quest today.
