For many consumers, one of the biggest problems holding them back from purchasing an electric vehicle or a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle is having to find a charging station away from the home.
One solution to this issue is vehicle-to-grid (V2G) systems, which is a feature that allows electric cars to work with a power grid to send electricity from the power lines to the car, and back, if desired.
According to a recent statement, Nissan is teaming up with Endesa in Madrid, Spain to develop the first ever “mass market” V2G system, which could absolutely change the future of electric vehicles.
Their plan is for electric car owners to be able to use the V2G system during low-demand charge periods, when costs are lower, and also to be able to store that cheaper charge for another time.

The 2015 Nissan Sentra has earned the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s Top Safety Pick Award, thanks to a number of structural improvements made this year along with a robust suite of advanced safety features.
IIHS’s Top Safety Pick Award recognizes vehicles that do exceptionally well in the moderate overlap front, roof strength, side, and head restraint tests. It also requires that the vehicle earn a “Good” or “Acceptable” rating in the small overlap frontal test. The Nissan Sentra earned the best-possible score of “Good” on all five tests.
Nissan has modified the Sentra’s front structure, including the A-pillar and doorsill, helping the compact car to achieve its “Good” rating in the new and difficult small overlap frontal test. In addition, standard features include Nissan’s Advanced Air Bag System, Anti-lock Braking System, Brake force Distribution and Brake Assist, front and rear crumple zones, energy absorbing steering column, among others.

In a revelation sure to impress the X-files detectives themselves, Nissan disclosed its newest exciting innovation; the glow-in-the-dark Nissan Leaf. While third party manufacturers have produced luminous paints and car wraps, Nissan is the first car company to fabricate an actual incandescent vehicle.
In an effort to symbolize the Leaf’s energy-converting EV capabilities, Nissan partnered with Hamish Scott, the inventor of glow-in-dark pavement, to create the glowing paint – fittingly – named Starpath. Comprised of a secret formula of organic materials and the biologically inert chemical Strontium Aluminate, the paint is able to absorb the ultraviolet energy from the sun during the day and convert it to light that shines 8-10 hours during the night. If commercially made, the glow-paint could last for up to 25 years.

The Nissan LEAF was recently named one of the most popular cars on the road based on customer loyalty. During the annual IHS Automotive Loyalty Awards, the LEAF took home the award for best Non-Luxury Traditional Compact Car. Considering it was the only plug-in nominated, the fact that it won says a lot about its incredible performance and quality.
According to Nissan, the new LEAF is selling like crazy, beating all of its previous sales records in 2014. This plug-in features seating for five, 114 MPGe, and a range of 84 miles. The LEAF truly is one of the best alternative-energy models on the market.

Nissan used its heartwarming With Dad ad to debut the GT-R LM Nismo, its long-awaited racer designed for the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
It’s been 16 years since Nissan has competed in the top tier of the prestigious race, but now it’s back. The GT-R LM Nismo was created by a team of experts from around the world and boasts a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine that sits in the front of the front-wheel-drive car, while hybrid power is derived from the front driveline to boost acceleration.
The LM P1 car belongs to a category that features some of the most extreme sports cars in racing today. Its performance at Le Mans could go a long way toward not only solidifying the automaker’s excellence in hybrid power but also in developing new, innovative technologies that can be applied to the very kind of production vehicles we see every day at Bates Nissan.
The Nissan GT-R LM Nismo will be the centerpiece of a Nismo display at the upcoming Chicago Auto Show, alongside the GT-R Nismo, 370Z Nismo, JUKE Nismo, and several other Nismo models and concepts.
For the first time in 18 years, Nissan will return to the Super Bowl with an ad aimed at dads. Unlike most teaser ads, Nissan won’t reveal any part of the actual commercial to be aired on game day. Instead, the automaker has enlisted a series of YouTube stars to take on the #withdad theme.
The individual YouTube content creators chosen by Nissan have large followings, and were each asked to create short online teaser films using their individual styles and voices, but were asked to follow the same theme: how dads make families more fun.
“After nearly a two-decade absence from the Super Bowl as an advertiser, we want to maintain the excitement and anticipation of game day. With so many commercials airing before the big game, I fundamentally believe it takes away much of the magic of showing the commercial on the biggest stage of the year. Prior to the Super Bowl, we do however want to build suspense around our story, while provoking a social conversation around the overarching theme. Our highly creative YouTube content creators help us do just that as we get ready to share our spot with America on Super Bowl Sunday,” said Fred Diaz, senior vice president, Nissan Sales & Marketing and Operations U.S., Nissan North America, Inc. in a statement.
The videos are being released on each individual creator’s YouTube page in anticipation of Nissan’s Super Bowl Ad, which will be aired during the big game. The teaser videos are also fed through the #withdad page on the Nissan YouTube channel and at www.withdad.com.

One small step for mankind has turned into one giant leap for automotive technology. The leap is only broadened by the announcement of a Nissan-NASA partnership. Nissan and NASA share similar interests.
NASA wants an autonomous vehicle to roam across other planets without getting stuck or requiring human assistance. Nissan wants its first autonomous vehicles on the market by 2020. The five year research and development partnership will focus on developing self-driving technology both on Earth and other planets.
This is not the first partnership between NASA and Nissan. In 2005 the two partnered up to develop comfortable and safe car seats. Like Nissan, NASA hopes to send its next rover to Mars in 2020. By the end of 2015, the first zero-emission autonomous vehicle should be available for testing.
There’s a new Nissan pickup truck in town—well, technically only if that town is Detroit or Los Angeles, but no matter. The point is that this new version of the Titan, officially called the Nissan Titan XD, has what it takes to mark a big impact in the crowded full-size truck market. The credit for the truck’s improvement can be credited to one specific area—the car’s improved powertrain.
This new generation of the Titan is powered by a 5.0L Cummins diesel engine, a V8 beast that gives drivers the most in terms of both performance and efficiency on the new truck market. Nissan is hoping that this new Titan, complete with a diesel engine, will improve the sales efforts for the brand here in America. It looks like more people are going green than ever before—and they are choosing the all-electric Nissan LEAF to do so. Nissan recently announced that the tiny, eco-friendly car has officially set a new U.S. electric car sales record in 2014.
The Nissan LEAF sold a total of 30,200 units in 2014 alone. This amazing number was helped by the LEAF’s impressive December sales, during which it sold 3,102 units total. The record-breaking year has brought the total LEAF sales in the U.S. to 72,322 units since the car’s introduction in December of 2010, making the Nissan electric car one of three plug-in cars that have sold more than 1,000 units in the U.S. in a month.
For such a tiny car, the Nissan LEAF has sure made a ginormous impression.
