What’s the Top Nissan NISMO Race Car?

The top Nissan NISMO race car was recently announced by the brand, and the results may surprise you. It’s the Nissan Skyline GT-R R32—a classic for most auto enthusiasts. Nissan recently held a competition on social media called the #NISMOtop20 competition to determine which cars fans loved the most. And, now that the votes are in, it looks like the GT-R R32 has won bragging rights.

According to Nissan, the GT-R R32 was only in production for five years, but it won several awards and championship races during its short lifespan. For instance, it won the SPA 24 and the Australian Touring Car Championship, both in 1991. The Skyline also took home the gold at the Bathurst 1000 two years in a row.

“It was in Japanese touring cars where the R32 saw arguably its biggest successes,” stated Nissan in a press release. “The Nissan Skyline GT-R R32 scored the victory in every Japanese Touring Car Championship race during the 1990, 1991, 1992 and 1993 seasons, earning championships for the Hasemi and Impul teams along the way.”

The standard R32 had a 2.6-liter engine with all-wheel drive, which generated up to 276 horsepower and up to 266 lb-ft of torque. It also weighed in at about 3,100 pounds. Still, the R32 maintained impressive handling, a smooth ride, and looks that simply couldn’t be beat.

While you may be hard pressed to find an R32, there is a range of other high-performance Nissan cars you can see in person at Bates Nissan today.

Don’t Let the Weather Slow You Down: Prepare Your Car for Fall

Nissan Pathfinder

As temperatures drop, fall is the time to roll the windows down and go for a scenic drive. But, don’t forget that winter is right around the corner, and that means increasingly unpredictable driving conditions. Follow these simple steps to prepare your car for fall and make sure you’re ready for anything.

Check Your Tires

Even the best all-season tires will underperform if they’re not properly aligned and inflated. This is especially true in fall and winter when there’s an increased chance of wet, icy, or snowy roads. Check your tires to ensure they have plenty of tread. And, if you notice your car pulling to one side, have the tires aligned.

Charge Your Battery

Cold mornings put extra strain on your car’s battery. Before it’s too late, make sure your battery is fully charged. If the terminals are excessively corroded, it could be time to replace the battery altogether.

Stow Useful Emergency Items

There’s no telling what the weather will do in the winter. Before it arrives, stow some important emergency items in your vehicle such as blankets, gloves, water bottles, and a cell phone charger.

Follow these simple tips for preparing your car for fall, and you can drive with confidence all season long. For a new vehicle perfect for those fall drives, stop by Bates Nissan today.

Nissan Reaffirms Commitment to Community Grant to Governor’s Books from Birth Foundation

Nissan knows that crafting vehicles of the highest quality is only part of what makes an automaker great. Even the best companies are nothing without the support of the people and communities that make everything possible. That’s why Nissan has always loved giving back to the communities in which it operates. Recently, Nissan made this commitment clear by granting $100,000 to Governor’s Books from Birth Foundation in Tennessee.

Governor’s Books from Birth Foundation (GBBF) is a wonderful organization dedicated to childhood literary in Tennessee. Since 2005, Nissan has given $1.2 million dollars to support everything they do. Most recently, Nissan gave $100,000 to support Imagination Library Programs in the four counties in which the automaker has operations.

Nissan’s grant will help provide 47,000 children in Davidson, Franklin, Rutherford, and Williamson counties with books each month. Since 2004, GBBF has distributed more than 30 million books with more than 279,000 children receiving new books each month.

This recent act of charity is one example of the many ways that Nissan has rooted itself as a member of local communities.

Come to Bates Nissan today for a test drive and to learn more about Nissan’s commitment to excellence and innovation across the nation.
